Edificio del Notariado

The Edificio del Notariado is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .

The building, which was built in 1962 as a result of a competition for its construction, is located in the Barrio Cordón at Avenida 18 de Julio 1730 and Calle Guayabo between Magallanes and Gaboto streets . As the winner of the competition, Estudio 5 and its architects C. Barañano , J. Blumstein , J. Ferster , G. Rodríguez Orozco and Rodriguez Juanotena were responsible for the construction. The Edificio del Notariado houses office space and a shopping arcade. In the building there is the seat of the Uruguayan Chamber of Notaries ( Asociación de Escribanos ) on the upper floors, the Caja Notarial de Jubilaciones on the ground floor and an auditorium, also used as a theater, with a capacity of 300 people.
