Westbury White Horse

Edington is a small town in Wiltshire , about five miles east of Westbury, Wiltshire , not far from Trowbridge , the main town in the county.

Edington has a significant place in English history, as Alfred the Great hit the Danes here in 878 and thus laid a cornerstone of English history.

It is reported that the Westbury White Horse was built nearby in memory of this important battle .

In the village there is a city park, a restaurant and its own church, the Edington Priory (in the village there was an Augustinian priory, the Edington Priory ). The children have to attend primary school in the neighboring town of Bratton, secondary schools are in Lavington and Matravers (Westbury)
