Education highway (EDUHI, then IST) is a project to support the introduction of the school subject information and communication technology (ICT) in the Upper Austrian education system. education highway was founded in 1985 by Anton Knierzinger and headed it until 2009. In 2011, education highway was merged as an organization with the Landesbildungsmedienzentrum (BIMEZ) to form Education Group GmbH .

The name was chosen based on the term data highway and is intended to express the priority of comprehensive education over pure information , even in the information age .

From 1985 to 2001 the location of education highway was the Pedagogical University of the Diocese of Linz. In 2001 the institution moved to the newly founded Techcenter Linz Winterhafen .
