Ego (kinship research)
In kinship research , the ego ( Latin : I) is the reference point in a kinship diagram.
A person who is usually in the center of the diagram is marked as an ego and, based on this, the relatives are added. Ego can be real (field study) or fictitious, which is usually the case with examples of different terminology systems. Ego can be recognized in diagrams by the fact that its symbol is colored in, while the symbols of relatives (a circle for a female, a triangle for a male) are only an outline.
Ego is also referred to as the after- area in a family relationship , while the special relative is the previous area .
