Honor walk

The honor walk is a rite in a striking connection . It usually opens and ends the scale length . The opening walk of honor stands for the mutual promise to keep to the comment . The final is the mutual respect and thanks for the commentary process. The difference to a normal gait is that both timpani do without attack blows and instead only strike the blades once.

During the ceremony of honor, in most cases the timpani wear the hat with the colors of their association. In the past, a scale with a cap was distinguished from a scale without a cap ("sine"). This meant different protective devices for the timpani edges, which were more extensive for scales "with a cap" and were therefore tolerated by the university authorities. Should the university authorities question them after a contrahage, the swindlers could testify under oath that they fought with hats.
