The pin of honor is awarded in silver and gold by the President of the German Fire Brigade Association (DFV) . The donation of the badge of honor was made at the suggestion of the DFV President, but the “Golden Badge of Honor” cannot be applied for, it is only awarded on the basis of a proposal by the DFV President.
layout
The badge of honor consists of the association signet of the DFV and a laurel branch in silver or gold. As early as 1929, the DFV awarded a similar badge of honor, here the then new DFV association signet with a silver and gold oak wreath was awarded for services to the fire brigade, especially for service anniversaries. From 1948 to 1953 a gold pin of honor with an oak leaf wreath was awarded, which corresponded to the version from 1929.
Award
There is no quota for awarding the DFV badge of honor. Only merit and worthiness are decisive for the award. The "Silver Badge of Honor" of the German Fire Brigade Association honors people who have particularly actively and successfully promoted the tasks and goals of the fire brigade associations. Since 2005 this award complements the “Golden Badge of Honor”.
Carrying method
The original pin of honor is worn as a miniature buttonhole for civilian suits. The matching ribbon buckle for the badge of honor is worn on the left side over the breast pocket.
