Uniform title

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the formal indexing in library catalogs, the title under which various editions of a work are brought together is referred to as the uniform title ( EST ) . In general, the title of the first complete edition in the original language is set as the uniform title. This is then given in library catalogs for all editions of the work.

The term can be found both in the Rules for Alphabetical Cataloging (RAK) and in the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (referred to there as Uniform Title ).
