Individual operating permit

The individual operating permit (EBE) is an operating permit for individual vehicles. The EBE is required according to § 21 StVZO for the approval of vehicles on public roads in Germany in the following examples:

  • individually manufactured vehicles
  • Vehicles that are produced in small series
  • extensive structural changes to vehicles according to individual ideas
  • Vehicles that have been imported from abroad without an EC type approval
  • Vehicles for special purposes with modifications
  • Vehicles after seven years of decommissioning, unless the certificate of conformity, data confirmation or EBE can be presented (or the old vehicle registration document)

If the report is positive, the registration office then issues an individual operating permit by issuing the vehicle registration document.
