El Confidencial
El Confidencial is a Spanish-language digital newspaper that specializes in economic, financial and political news. It was founded in 2001 as an online newspaper. The target group are middle-aged business people. In July 2020, it wasranked 43rd among all Spanish websitesin the Alexa Internet evaluation service .
El Confidencial is operated from Madrid . The newspaper has various branches outside Madrid: in Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Galicia and the Basque Country. The founders were José Antonio Sánchez García, Jesús Cacho and Antonio Casado Alonso. The publisher is Titania Compañía Editorial SL, and Nacho Cardero is the director of the newspaper.
The newspaper has a liberal political orientation. A study classifies the newspaper as market-liberal and part of the right-wing press, which corresponds to the fundamentally conservative or right-wing liberal tendency of the Spanish digital native press.
In 2019 she was awarded the Premio de la Comunicación (Influencia area).
