Elaboration (pharmacy)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Austrian pharmaceutical law, elaboration refers to the manufacture of certain pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy in reserve. The Austrian Medicines Act allows the production of a stock of medicines which the pharmacist can expect to be used within a foreseeable time because a doctor, dentist or veterinarian prescribes them. Such medicinal products have a special position insofar as they do not require approval by the authorities. The pharmacist in Austria is only required to keep an elaboration file for medicines produced in advance.
