Electropneumatic control

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under an electro-pneumatic controller is the connection of electrical components to control of components of the pneumatic (for example, by electrically operated valves ). The working medium compressed air is controlled by electrical signals. If several valves are required in a small area, these are often grouped together in valve islands that can be controlled via fieldbus .

In contrast to purely pneumatic controls, electropneumatic controls allow much more complex functions, in particular through the use of electronic circuits such as, for example, programmable logic controls . The advantage of pneumatics lies in the simple and inexpensive implementation of actuators , for example with pneumatic cylinders .
