Emigranternas Hus

The Emigrant Erna's Hus is a company founded in 2003 cultural center and Migration Museum in Gothenburg , Sweden .

Emigranternas Hus is located in an old customs building that was used between 1850 and 1930 to clear over a million Swedes on their way to America . In the museum part of the house you can find memorabilia, letters, documents and permits. The reasons for the emigration were the oppressive dominance of the church, the increasing poverty due to the population growth as well as emergency situations due to the inheritance regulations and the exploitation of rich landowners.
