Eric H. Cline (born September 1, 1960 in Washington, DC ) is an American archaeologist , historian and author of scientific and popular science books.

Cline studied Classical Archeology and Anthropology at Dartmouth College ( BA 1982), Middle Eastern Languages ​​and Literature at Yale University ( MA 1984) and Ancient History at the University of Pennsylvania . There he was in 1991 with the work Orientalia in the Late Bronze Age Aegean doctorate . Afterwards Cline u. a. at California State University in Fresno (1992-1994), Xavier University in Cincinnati (1994-1997), Stanford University (1997/98) and the University of Cincinnati (1998-2000). Cline took part as an archaeologist in 30 excavation campaigns in Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Cyprus, Greece and the United States, from 1994 to 2014 in 10 campaigns in Megiddo , most recently as co-director alongside Israel Finkelstein from Tel Aviv University , and since 2005 as Co-director next to Assaf Yasur-Landau from the University of Haifa in Tel Kabri . In May 2015 he received an honorary doctorate from Muhlenberg College .
