Erich Georg Fritz (born December 9, 1946 in Teisendorf , Upper Bavaria ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After completing secondary school and two and a half years of work on a large construction site in Munich, Fritz completed his 18-month basic military service in North Rhine-Westphalia and then acquired the general university entrance qualification via the second educational path . He then studied history, German and geography at the Ruhr University of Education in Dortmund . He completed his studies in 1972 with the first state examination. After his legal clerkship , he also passed the second state examination in 1975 and then worked as a teacher .

Erich G. Fritz is Catholic , married and has two children.

Political career

Fritz joined the CDU in 1976. He from 1985 to 2009 Chairman of the CDU district association Dortmund and was from 1986 to 2012 the CDU district executive Ruhr to, most recently as vice chairman. He is honorary chairman of the CDU district association in Dortmund. From 1979 to 1990 Fritz was a member of the Dortmund city ​​council , where he was, among other things, cultural policy spokesman; from 1987 to 1990 he was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. From 1990 to 2013 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1991 to 1998 he was deputy chairman of the Enquête Commission “Protection of Man and the Environment” and from 1994 to 2002 he was foreign trade policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . Fritz has been chairman of the “Globalization / Regionalization” subcommittee since 1998 and “Globalization and Foreign Trade” of the Foreign Affairs Committee since 2002 . As a member of the Economic Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee, he mainly dealt with questions of international order, the world trade system and, as rapporteur for Latin America, with relations with the countries of Central and South America. He did not run for the 2013 federal election . Fritz was a member of the board of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group.

Memberships

Erich G. Fritz was a member of the delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the German-Brazilian, the German-Chinese, the German-Russian parliamentary groups of the German Bundestag as well as the SADC states. He was deputy chairman of the German-Romanian parliamentary group and the German-Romanian forum.

Fritz is chairman of the "Kommende-Stiftung beneVolens".

Fritz was chairman of the board of trustees of the Georg Kraus Foundation until 2013 and has been chairman of the foundation since 2014. The foundation supports development projects. Fritz has been a member of the board of the Auslandsgesellschaft NRW eV (Dortmund) since 1981, and has been vice-president since 1983.
