The Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Realschule Kreuztal (RSK) is a secondary school in Kreuztal , Siegen-Wittgenstein district .
The school was mentioned for the first time in 1859 in the official gazette of the Royal Government of Arnsberg as a "private boys school". Teacher Eduard Knipping received the opening license on February 18 of that year. In the years that followed, the school changed location and was renamed several times.
In spring 1964, the current school building in the "Hessengarten" was inaugurated, and the school was given its final name in 1969 after the town of Kreuztal was founded.
Today the school has around 650 students. A development association was founded in 1957.
Together with the Clara-Schumann-Gesamtschule and the Städtisches Gymnasium Kreuztal (until November 2008 Friedrich-Flick -Gymnasium) it forms the school center Kreuztal. In addition to the three secondary schools, there is also the local town hall, a triple gymnasium and the “Stählerwiese” stadium.
The school hit the headlines nationwide in April 2008 when three pupils drank so much spirits early in the morning during a class trip that a rescue helicopter was called and the A 45 autobahn was blocked for half an hour .
