Ernst Kreye

Gottlieb Ernst Kreye (* around 1800 in Halberstadt ; † 1863 or 1864 in Berlin ) was a German architect .

Kreye studied at the Berlin Building Academy and became a building inspector at the end of 1823. In 1825 he became a member of the architects' association . From 1830 until his death he was house, building and economics inspector at the Royal Museum .

Kreye worked exclusively in Berlin. Until 1823 he and Heinrich Bürde were in charge of construction work on converting a wing of the Academy of the Arts into a picture gallery. From 1824 to 1829 he was involved in the construction of the Royal Museum under the direction of Bürde. In 1846 he was in charge of the construction of the Neue Wache .
