Expectation calculation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The expectation calculation is a controlling instrument that can be used after a previous target / actual comparison in the event of significant deviations from the plan: It is then checked with which possible countermeasures (corrective actions) the planned targets can still be achieved and what effort (which costs) are likely to arise in addition.

The expected effort for a future, probable actual is determined on the basis of the determined actual and the intervention options remaining until the end of the plan. The expectation calculation is therefore also referred to as the "actual-will calculation", it is a future-oriented view based on the principle of pre-coupling:

  • Define target
  • Record actual values
  • Determine setpoints
  • Compare target and actual values
  • Order measures
  • set in motion and execute
  • Control progress

The expectation calculation is carried out during the year, usually monthly or quarterly. The closer an expectation calculation is carried out towards the end of the planning, the smaller the active room for maneuver and it then approaches the pure result forecast .
