Extension (dentures)

Telescopic prosthesis: a partial prosthesis attached to telescopic crowns

An extension is called a reworking of removable dentures . A partial denture replaces missing teeth. If one or more additional teeth have to be extracted (removed) from an integrated partial denture , in certain cases the existing partial denture can be supplemented - expanded - by the newly missing teeth .

The partial denture is usually attached to the remaining dentition or implants with holding elements (clips, attachments, telescopic crowns ) . If an extracted tooth was used as a retaining and / or supporting pillar, then the retaining element on another tooth may have to be re-manufactured as part of the expansion.
