Escharotomy
Escharotomy (from Eschara , Greek ἐσχάρα "hearth, burn, scab (on a burn)", and -tomy ) is a method used in medicine to sever superficial layers of skin.
It is mainly used for burn injuries when more than two thirds of the circumference of an extremity is burned. It is used to prevent the compartment syndrome .
