Ethnic village of Stanišić

The Etno Selo Stanišić (Ethno-Village Stanišić) is a building project by Boris Stanišić, who started building a village in the traditional Serbian style in 2003 . To do this, he began to look for ancient objects, especially those from central and eastern Bosnia. The tools he collected all date from the 19th and 20th centuries.

There are some ethno-villages in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia, but what is so unique about this one is that it does not harmonize properly with the surroundings, as it was built on the plains of the Semberija. The ethno-village Stanisic is located approx. 5 km from Bijeljina , in the direction of Pavlovic Most, i. H. close to the Serbian border.

Emergence

During his travels in central Bosnia, Boris Stanišić found many usable items. As he is a devout Serb and the ethno village is in an area mostly populated by Serbians, he wanted to show that religion was an essential part of social and civic life in Bosnia and Herzegovina before the communism era, and so he decided to To have a Serbian Orthodox church and chapel built, as well as a drinking fountain with the image of a saint. In the middle of the chapel there is a cuboid depression filled with water, where believers and tourists can throw coins into it.

In the second expansion phase, the Hotel Pirg was built, which offers many comfortable rooms and conference rooms.

In the meantime, the third expansion phase has already started and parts of it have been opened. There is also a children's amusement park, a large third pond on which there is a ship with a 'Australia' direction indicator, and a small steam locomotive drives around the pond, the start and end of which is Podlugovi .

Attractions

The ethno village represents two sides of the old Bosnian architecture. First of all, the wooden huts and boats, symbolizing the wooden architectural style that used to be very common in Bosnia and Herzegovina as the country is rich in forests. Then the construction method with stones, such as the stone paths, open-air arena and fountain.

The ethno village is not only fascinating because of the traditional architecture, but also because of the culinary offerings in the restaurants and bars, which also offer traditional dishes. The waiters and waitresses are also traditionally dressed in Bosnian. The main restaurant is called Konoba .

The Etno Selo also has two ponds with geese and ducks. You can also go rowing boats on the ponds.
