euroSIC

euro S wiss I nterbank C learing is the Swiss payment system for processing payments in euros. Over 150 financial institutions from Switzerland and other European countries use this interface to the euro payment systems of the EU countries. The universal bank Swiss Euro Clearing Bank GmbH ( SECB ), based in Frankfurt , acts as the system manager, which ensures the connection to the European Union through its membership in the Euro payment systems TARGET2 as well as STEP1 and STEP2 of the Euro Banking Association .

The SECB was founded in 1998 as a joint effort by the Swiss financial center. UBS , Credit Suisse , PostFinance and SIX each own 25% of the shares . On September 3, 2018, SIX signed the purchase agreement for the takeover of the remaining 75%. If the competition commission has no objections, the purchase should be completed by the end of the year.

In December 2016, the euroSIC interbank payment system set an all-time monthly record with over 750,000 euro transactions.
