European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC) is a European standard qualification for intensive care medicine .

The EDIC is issued by the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and therefore has no formal or state character. However, it represents a high standard that is identical throughout Europe, which in some cases goes well beyond the national specialist examinations and enables international comparability. It therefore provides documentation of a high level of training and can be helpful for applications or career jumps.

Two parts of the exam are required to acquire the EDIC. The first consists of a multiple choice exam (Basic and Clinical Sciences), the second is an oral exam at the bedside. Successful graduates are entitled to use the abbreviation EDIC after their name.
