The European Internet Exchange Association ( Euro-IX ) was founded in 2001 by the largest European operators of Internet nodes (IX) . The organization, based in London, is intended for providers , network operators and Internet node operators ( I nternet E x change P rovider, IXP).

Since the American EQUINIX joined Euro IX in 2005, the organization has 36 members (IXPs), which corresponds to around 50% of the European IXPs.

The company maintains publicly available data of the IXPs that have joined. In addition, a peering matrix (IXPs) is maintained, which describes the connectivity of the IXPs with one another.

In order to better understand the peculiarity of Internet nodes , Euro-IX has launched a competition, the result is a five-minute video on how peering works.
