Eurycles of Athens
Eurykles ( Greek Εὐρυκλῆς ) of Athens was a ventriloquist in Athens during the Peloponnesian War (431–404 BC), who was well known in antiquity.
Ventriloquists were named after him as euryclids . The comedy poet Aristophanes names him in his play The Wasps as a well-known example of a person from whose belly a demon speaks. Plato also uses him as an example. Plutarch also mentions him.
