Evangelical People's Party
The Evangelical People's Party (EPP) was a Dutch party that existed from 1981 to 1991. The left-wing Christian party merged into Groen Links .
history
In terms of its programmatic orientation, the EPP was a progressive Christian party that was founded in 1981 when the Evangelical Progressieve People's Party with part of the Niet bij brood alleen ("Not from bread alone") group, which had broken away from the CDA , united.
The most important goals of the party, which often referred to the Sermon on the Mount , included peace, justice and solidarity. The party did not want to limit itself to the Christian environment and increasingly sought cooperation with other small progressive parties. In view of her own unsuccessfulness - she was only represented in parliament from 1982 to 1985 with Cathy Ubels-Veen - she joined forces with the PPR , the PSP and the CPN to form the Groen Links alliance in 1989 . When this alliance was converted into a party in 1990, the EPP dissolved a little later.
organization
In 1983 the party had reached its organizational high with 2,820 members. Since 1981 she has published the party leaflet EPP-info . With the Stichting Vorming en Scholing (Education and Training Foundation ), the EPP had an in-house training facility that had been publishing its own magazine, Schering en inslag , since 1988 .
