Extension bandage

An extension bandage (also called a stretch bandage ) is a bandage that is attached to an extremity , used to set in broken bones ( fractures ) or to correct a misalignment.

A weight is attached to a string attached to the bandage. This pull in the required direction can compensate for a misalignment during growth or, in the case of fractures, the correct position of the fragments to one another can be maintained. The duration of therapy varies from a few days to 10 weeks, depending on the case. There are thus in pediatric orthopedics z. B. Hip dysplasias (abnormal growths) treated.
