FCSG cheerleaders

FCSG Cheerleader is the cheerleading department in the FC St. Gallen 1879 club and was founded in April 2000. One of the first appearances took place on the occasion of the handover of the championship trophy in the Espenmoos stadium. The FCSG cheerleaders are among the leading squads (teams) in Switzerland and have regularly won a Swiss championship title over the past ten years. In 2012 they became Swiss champions in five categories.

history

In the spring of 2000, the cheerleaders of FC St. Gallen were founded.

In January 2003 the junior team Green Sparkle was founded. The Green Lightning took part in the Swiss Championships in Egg, ZHT, for the first time on April 6, and achieved five podium places in four categories, including 1st place in cheerleading.

On April 4, 2004, the FCSG cheerleaders competed again at the Swiss championship. The results: Vice Swiss champion in cheerleading, Swiss champion in the cheerdance category and a total of seven podium places. On September 9th, the junior team Green Twinkle was founded. On December 5th, all three cheerleading teams appeared together for the first time at the last FC home game of the season in Espenmoos.

On April 3, 2005, the Green Lightning brought back the Swiss championship in the cheerleading category to Eastern Switzerland. At the II. International ELITE Cheerleading Championship in Movie Park Bottrop (DE) on June 4th, the Green Team won the bronze medal.

On February 25, 2006, the Green Lightning cheerleaders not only defended their championship title at the Swiss Championships in Winterthur in the cheerleading category, but also won first place in all other categories. Once again, the cheerleaders traveled to Bottrop in northern Germany on June 4th and took part in the III. International ELITE Cheerleading Championship in Movie Park took 7th place in the Senior Allgirl Cheer category.

The Swiss Cheerleading Championship was held on March 31, 2007 in the Bodensee-Arena Kreuzlingen . The Green Lightning cheerleaders defended the championship title in all disciplines: Senior Allgirl Cheer, Cheerdance, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt and Individual. In May they started at the IV. International ELITE Cheerleading Championship in Germany and reached 5th place.

At the Swiss Championships in the St. Gallen Athletics Center on March 15, 2008, the Green Lightning won. At the V. International ELITE Cheerleading Championship on 10./11. May in Germany, the Green Lightnings just missed the finals with sixth place. In the group stunt category they qualified as the best Swiss team for the 2009 World Championships in Orlando, Florida.

From 23 to 26 April 2009, the FCSG cheerleaders competed for the first time at a World Cup and achieved 4th place in both the ICU World Cheerleading Championship and the USAFS The Cheerleading Worlds. On May 16, the Lightnings won the Swiss championship title in 2009 with their show, which they had rehearsed especially for the World Cup. The two junior teams Green Twinkles and Green Sparkles also won the championship title in their category.

Because of the huge amount of time and money involved, the team did not fly to the 2010 World Cup. However, they represented on 22/23. April 2010 Switzerland in the category 'Senior Allgirl Groupstunt' and achieved the 6th place. On 22./23. May the team went to Bottrop to be back in 2010 in the elite cheerleading championship. As in the previous year, they achieved 6th place. On May 29th, the FCCG-Cheers won again at the SM 2010. Due to the great interest, the FCSG cheerleaders founded a third junior team in autumn 2010: the Green Rays.

On 28/29 April 2011, the Green Lightning participated as a team at the World Championships for the second time and reached 7th place. On May 28, the FCSG cheerleaders managed to bring the title back to Eastern Switzerland at the Swiss Championship in Bern. The Green Sparkle and the Green Twinkle won the title in their respective categories. With their 3rd place, the Green Rays could also look back on a successful first championship. For the first time, the FCSG cheerleaders drove to Germany with the junior team Green Sparkle in June and achieved sixth place.

On May 12, 2012 the FCSG cheerleaders started in five categories of the 16th Cheerleading and Cheerdance Swiss Championship and have won the Swiss Championship five times. On May 26th / 27th, the Green Lightning and the Green Sparkle will take part in the ELITE Cheerleading Championship. On June 30th, the Green Lightning took place at the European Championship.
