The Football Club Orania Vianden is a Luxembourgish football club from Vianden .

history

The association was founded in 1936. The name Orania goes back to the owner of Vianden Castle in the 15th century, the House of Oranien-Nassau .

During the German occupation of Luxembourg , the club was forcibly renamed FV Vianden . In 1944 it was renamed back to the founding name.

The club plays its home games on the "Am Komp" terrain. This is just a grass pitch (capacity approx. 1000 standing places) with a small grandstand and an integrated clubhouse. Below the playing field there is another artificial turf pitch, Terrain II "Jules Bergh" (approx. 500 places).

Since it was founded, Orania Vianden played in the second-rate honorary doctorate for a total of 12 years , most recently in the 1988/89 season. In the Coupe de Luxembourg they reached the semi-finals in 1972/73 and the quarter-finals in 1980/81.

In 2013, Orania Vianden won the Coupe FLF , the national cup competition for clubs in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd division (third to fifth division) with a 4-1 victory over FC Kehlen .

After nine years in the 1st division (3rd division), he was relegated to the 2nd division in 2018.

Orania Vianden is the home club of the former national player Eric Hoffmann (88 caps).
