Burning inclined torch in the coat of arms of Merck-Saint-Liévin

The torch is a common figure in heraldry . The coat of arms figure can be in the shield , also in the upper coat of arms and as a gem in the coat of arms . The number is generally limited to one to three pieces. Two torches are often shown crossed.

A mostly slightly conical, tube-like body / stick is shown with an emerging flame at the upper, wider end, which can be held in the hand or placed in a wall or floor position. The shape of the stick is generally made of or wrapped in combustible material. The heraldic colors are all used, although the colors of the flame and the body do not always differ. All two- and four-legged friends can appear as torchbearers in the coat of arms. When describing the coat of arms , all important details of the torch should be mentioned.
