Faculty dramskih umetnosti

The facet dramskih umetnosti (Serbian for Faculty of Drama Arts ) was founded in 1948 in Belgrade as Akademija za pozorišnu umetnost (Academy of Theater Arts) in Yugoslavia . In 1950 the film school was attached to her.

Classes at the Academy began on February 12, 1949. The first acting professors were Mata Milošević and Jozo Laurenčić with their assistants Miroslav Belović , Stevo Žigon and Soja Jovanović . The professors for directing were Bojan Stupica and Hugo Klein . The first rector and dean was Dušan Matić .

At the beginning of the 1960s, new departments were opened and the academy was renamed Akademija za pozorište, film, radio i televiziju in 1962 . In 1973 it was given the current name of the faculty dramskih umetnosti . In 1974 the new building of the faculty in the district of Novi Beograd was inaugurated.

For the 50th anniversary of the faculty, it received the Vuk Prize in 1998 , the highest honor for Yugoslav culture.

Today the faculty has nine departments: acting, theater and radio directing, dramaturgy, cultural management, film and television directing, film and television production, camera, film and television editing and sound editing.
