Falbel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A falbel is a strip-shaped trimmings made of fabric or lace in folds on items of clothing or home textiles.

Falling can already be recognized in plastic works of art from the Minoan period . The Akkadians are also said to have known Falbeln. More recently, falcons have been particularly popular as decorations for flamenco costumes.

There is an anecdote about the origin of the French name falbala : A German prince is said to have been assured in the Palais Royal that everything imaginable is available here. Thereupon he used a fantasy word and asked for Falbalas . A fashion retailer then spontaneously handed him the item for which this name had not previously existed.
