Farley Archives

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Farley archive is a collection of politicians' records of people they have met before.

The term goes back to James Aloysius Farley , Franklin Delano Roosevelt's campaign manager . Farley kept an archive of records of everyone Roosevelt had met. If a second meeting took place, the file was studied beforehand. So Roosevelt could go into the fiancée, the children, and their age - anything that might have been part of previous conversations or whatever Farley had found out about the people, however insignificant it might be. This knowledge gave Roosevelt an aura of familiarity.

Today, Farley archives are widely used by politicians and business people.
