Faust II - Die Rockoper is a rock opera by Rudolf Volz based on Faust (The Tragedy, Part Two) by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe . The libretto, music and staging were created by Volz. Michael Wagner and Uwe Rodi are co-composers and arrangers.

The world premiere took place on October 17, 2003 in the Landestheater Marburg. The first CD was released a few months later.

This stage work is a consistent and stylistic continuation of Faust I - The Rock Opera . In this respect, the two rock operas can be viewed as one continuous piece with four halves.

stylistics

Only original texts by Goethe are used. The only stylistic devices are repetition and deletion of original texts. This rock opera is not just a concept album , but has a theatrical implementation in the form of a rock spectacle , a combination of classic German literature with rock music in the style of the 1970s. The rock opera is so far the only implementation of the literary work in opera form.
