Felony

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The felony denotes a heavy betrayal by intentional breakage of the fidelity relationship between lord and Lehnsmann (d. E. The vassals).

The original root of the word lies in the Latin fello (from fallere : to deceive, to cheat), the word for a slave thief , a generally evil person. Fello is, in turn, the origin of the French félonie (from félon: sworn, traitor), which has the same meaning as the German "Felonie". In contrast , the English word felony means, depending on the country and the law applicable there, especially in the USA, a serious offense in contrast to the lighter offense (misdemeanor).
