Remote patrol badge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fernspähtruppabzeichen was an internal troop badge of the enclosed German units in the Dunkirk fortress towards the end of the Second World War . The foundation was made by the commanding Vice Admiral Friedrich Frisius at an unknown time until May 1945, similar to the Dunkirk shield, and was awarded in one version.

Award terms and appearance

The award of the long-distance spy troop badge took place for participation in a successful supply company of the fortress, in particular the appreciation of the effort and the prudence demonstrated. Also in this context for the "courageous" commitment shown. The badge, which is rarely awarded, is in the form of a silvery embroidered stylized wing on a dark cloth base and is believed to be attached to the wearer's left sleeve. With the handover of the badge, the entrusted received an award document signed by Frisius.

Award numbers

So far, based on the award documents, it has only been determined that the badge was awarded on May 2, 1945 to eight seal crews of the small combat units of the Kriegsmarine who had visited the fortress twice for the purpose of food supplies by the end of the war. The last time on this May 2, 1945. Curiously, however, the award certificate from Chief Machinist Holst bears the award certificate number 48.
