Grease filter
Grease filters remove most of the grease and oil from the vapors . Application areas are e.g. B. Extractor hoods .
Grease filters are available as:
- Expanded metal filter
- 4 to 14 layers of expanded metal
- Grease separation efficiency 75 to 98%
- Paper filter
- Special filter paper z. T. with saturation indicator.
- Must be replaced when saturated.
- Fleece filter
- consist of a few mm thick fleece layer .
- Must be replaced when saturated.
- Labyrinth filter
- In the labyrinth filter, the air flow is guided in a meandering shape around appropriately designed filter elements.
- The grease is deposited on the surfaces of the filter elements and collects in the lower channels.
To prevent the risk of fire, all disposable filters must be replaced in good time and all metal filters cleaned in good time. Old deposited fat has a low flash point and can ignite from the rising heat or from dripping on the hot stove. Metal filters (e.g. in the dishwasher or with an intensive detergent solution ) should not be cleaned together with other dishes, as food residues can stick to the fabric of the grease filter. When cleaning by hand, the grease filter should be soaked in hot soapy water (do not use aggressive, acidic or caustic detergents). Then brush well, rinse and let dry.
If very greasy filters are rinsed with too little cleaning agent, the grease will saponify and can then no longer be removed by normal cleaning agents. These grease filters can then only be degreased with aggressive special cleaning agents or have to be replaced.
