The Fieldbus Foundation is an organization based in the USA that essentially includes companies that develop and manufacture fieldbus systems or components for them.
It was founded in September 1994 through the merger of two organizations that were previously independent, the WorldFIP North America and the Interoperable Systems Project (ISP). At the time of the merger, it comprised around 350 member companies. The aim of the organization is to develop common standards and to submit appropriate standardization proposals, e.g. B. to the IEC .
