Fileleftheri
I Fileleftheri ( Οι Φιλελεύθεροι - The Liberals ) were founded in 2001 and were then the only political party in Greece that saw itself as liberal . In its program it was similar to the Central and Western European liberal parties. The core theses were the greatest possible freedom for the individual with more “responsibility” (in the sense of individual personal responsibility, less social responsibility and a reduction in public transfer payments). The party demanded a radical restructuring of the state and the civil service , a reduction in bureaucracy , the withdrawal of the state from the economy and a reduction in the state quota and tax cuts. In the 2004 general election, the party won just 0.04% of 2,658 nationwide votes.
In 2007 the party was dissolved. See also: Political parties in Greece
