Fischer separation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In chemistry, Fischer's separation is a classical method for separating amino acids , more precisely α-amino acids , of historical interest . For this purpose, mixtures of several amino acids are converted into mixtures of amino acid esters. The mixture of amino acid esters is then fractionally distilled in vacuo . This separation method gives several fractions of amino acid esters of different compositions.
