wave of refugees

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Refugee wave is a term for a crowd of refugees on the move . The term contains allusions to their number and the type of movement and - similar to "refugee flow" - has a negative connotation. In contrast to this, the “wave” designates a one-off or regularly occurring mass volume, while the “current” designates a continuous inflow.

“Wave of refugees” counts as a political catchphrase , unlike the more neutral “refugee movement ”.
