A flicker tape is a tape that is stretched lengthways across the barrel of large-caliber sniper or sport rifles . It dissipates heat from the barrel to the sides, which would cause heat shimmer when looking through the telescopic sight.
Flicker tapes are usually hung on eyelets with brackets.
