Focal company

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A focal company is understood to be the central, controlling company in a group of companies. Various companies come together to form a strategic network, for example to enable the manufacture of a product for which various specialized partners along the value chain are required. The individual companies remain legally independent, but intensive, cross-company use of the common resources takes place within the strategic network.

The focal company takes on the coordinating function and also affects the companies in the network beyond its own company boundaries. Areas of this intensive networking are knowledge transfer and the inclusion of new companies.

In logistics, especially in supply chain management , the focal company carries out the central planning of orders, capacities and stocks for the entire company network.
