Formal science

Formal sciences are sciences that are devoted to the analysis of formal systems . Examples are mathematics , logic , theoretical computer science , general linguistics and, to some extent, law . The formal sciences thus represent a scientific area that is delimited, for example, from the humanities , social sciences , natural sciences and engineering .
