Forest rope

A forest rope is a variant of the wire rope . It is mainly used in forestry to back wood , but also to support tree felling work.

The wire rope differs from conventional designs in that the surface is smoothed by subsequent compression and the diameter of the rope is reduced while maintaining the same strength. This means that the rope slides more easily and picks up less dirt and foreign bodies.

The rope mostly on forestry winches, which often is used in conjunction with a skid plate and a backstay form a unit. In addition to a safety hook , a rope sliding hook is often installed in order to be able to form a loop around tree trunks in a way that is gentle on the rope.
