Fractionation
Fraktionierung , borrowed from the French fraction "grouping", which goes back to the Latin frāctio "fragment", stands for:
- Fiber length fractionation
- Isotope fractionation , the enrichment, depletion or separation of different isotopes of an element
- Polymer fractionation (chemistry), the separation of long and / or short-chain components from plastics
- Plasma fractionation , the separation of different components (usually proteins) of the blood plasma in pharmacy.
- Enrichment or depletion or separation of different elements or chemical compounds according to temperature, see fractional distillation
- Enrichment or depletion or separation of different substance mixtures, see fractional crystallization (chemistry)
- Enrichment or depletion or separation of different minerals, see fractional crystallization (petrology)

- in cryptology the breaking down of individual characters of a plaintext into two or more components and their subsequent "tearing up", see fractionation (cryptology)
