Frame server

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A frame server is software that simulates a video file (possibly together with audio data) for a program. In fact, the frame server sends a stream of complete frames directly to programs, primarily video editing programs.

This detour makes it possible to open video files that the video editing program cannot read in by itself. Frame servers can also change video files while they are being passed through. The control is usually done with scripts.

No temporary data is cached on the hard disk during this process .

A frame server is usually used to edit videos, for example to improve images.
