Frank B. Weeks
Frank Bentley Weeks (born January 20, 1854 in Brooklyn , New York City , † October 2, 1935 in Middletown , Connecticut ) was an American politician and governor of the US state of Connecticut. He was a member of the Republican Party .
Early years and political advancement
Frank Weeks graduated from Eastman Business College in Poughkeepsie , New York, in 1872 . That same year he became the assistant superintendent of Connecticut's Asylum for the Insane, where he served as an administrator for more than 30 years. Weeks was also a director of Middletown Mutual Assurance Company and Middletown Savings Bank . He also established the Middletown Chamber of Commerce. He decided in 1904 to embark on a political career by serving as the presidential elector. In November 1908 he was elected lieutenant governor of Connecticut.
Connecticut Governor
The incumbent governor Lilley died on April 21, 1909 and Weeks, who was then vice-governor, took over his duties. During his tenure, the population grew rapidly due to a large influx of immigrants into the urban areas. Weeks also set up the budget and followed Governor Lilley's economic policy in his drive to cut taxes. He also asserted himself against the monopolists in support of the industrial statutes. Upon the end of Governor Lilley's tenure, Weeks left office on January 4, 1911 and went back to business.

He was later a delegate to the 1912 Republican National Convention . He was also the administrator of Wesleyan University and a founding member of the Middletown Historical Society . Frank B. Weeks passed away on October 2, 1935 at the age of 81. He was then buried in Indian Hill Cemetery in Middletown.
