Freeway is a WYSIWYG HTML editor from the English company Softpress Systems . Freeway is offered for macOS ; older versions can also run under Mac OS 9 and 8 . Freeway is offered in two versions, Freeway Pro and Freeway Express.
The software is used to manage website projects and design websites. It offers the user a user interface that is reminiscent of desktop publishing programs. The pages designed by the user are stored in an internal database. HTML code is only generated at the time of an upload, i.e. when the pages are loaded onto a web server. With the current version, the user can generate online shops and open them on the Internet without having to deal with programming or databases. XHTML and extended CSS functionality are integrated in the program.
Such a program is sometimes referred to as a web generator or HTML generator. Freeway touts its program with the ability to easily design websites "without having to write a single line of code".
