When feeding coating refers to a formulation of insecticides , in which a paint-like liquid is issued in small wells or spread with a brush. Depending on the manufacturer and type, the paint contains different active ingredients or combinations thereof.

Frequently, ants fought by eating paint, it is therefore often also called ant-eating paint sold. In addition to sugar, gelatine and attractants, the varnish often contains active ingredients that damage fertile insects. The lacquer-like solution makes it easier for the workers to pick up and quickly pass them on in the nest, so that the active ingredient reaches the queens, the breeding process comes to a standstill and the colony dies out. Other groups of active ingredients prevent larvae development or other vital functions for ants. Success takes some time.
