Fruit Belt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The so-called Fruit Belt is an area in California in which special crops (e.g. tropical fruits ) are cultivated intensively . California is therefore also known as the "Fruit Garden of America" or "Wine State". The prevailing subtropical climate offers the best conditions for this. However, due to low rainfall in summer, the fruits have to be artificially irrigated ( irrigation field management ). This is because California lies in the rain shadow of the coastal chain.
